Fall weddings are commonly designed with dark and moody colors. While I still adore those rich color schemes, Alison and Ben’s fall wedding at The Wilds provided a fun twist with vibrant cranberry, yellow and warm orange tones! Thanks the lovely Jessica Strickland Photography for capturing these beautiful memories of the day.
As you enter The Wilds a sense of serenity takes over and you are in awe with its surrounding beauty. The venue showcases wooded views of Yellowwood State Forest, wildflowers, prairie grass and the breathtaking views atop the rolling hills of Brown County farmland. Inside, the venue features a beautifully high ceilings with exposed timber beams and a cozy fireplace. Owners, Alison and Brian Faulkner, are truly invested in each wedding, making sure no detail is missed and that every couple feels a true sense of Hoosier hospitality.
Touches of the predominant cranberry color were seen throughout the details including the stationery by Creative in Bloom and the varying styles of the bridesmaid dresses. For a romantic yet fun style, Alison paired an exquisite, soft ivory layered ivory gown with a breathtaking appliqué veil. Aligning with the veil, the bride custom made her matching appliqué booties using material from her late mom’s wedding dress. These sentimental touches were extra special!
The vibrant colors of greens, cranberry, yellow and orange tones were combined with touches of pampas grass to give an overall fall feel. Cowan and Cook Florists created incredible florals throughout, including a stunning design for the pergola overlooking the forest. Every floral accent was vibrant and happy, but the the succulents nestled in the bride’s bouquet won best of show!
I loved seeing all the little touches that reflected the couple’s personality throughout the day. In lieu of the out-dated garter toss, the avid fisherman/groom opted for a “fish toss” to his single pals. What a fun idea!
The bride’s father also presented a sentimental surprise with a Barbie cake. Yes, that’s right…but wait until you hear about it. (It’s so sweet). When Alison was young she told her dad she wanted a Barbie cake for her wedding, complete with a contract all about her future wedding plans. Fast forward to wedding day and we pulled out the long awaited Barbie cake and the framed contract. The look of surprise and tears were so sweet!
With the cozy ambiance, vibrant florals and peak autumnal colors , Alison and Ben’s fall wedding the Wilds encompassed everything I could imagine for a perfect October wedding celebration. I’m so honored to work with them to bring their vision to reality! Best wishes to the newlyweds!
