Lemons, Oranges & Grapefruits….

Citrus Wedding Inspiration

Taking inspiration from citrus fruits is a fun and easy way to brighten the special day without going over the top (unless you want to, of course—we’re not here to judge). From flowers to attire, the ways that a citrus-inspired color scheme can be incorporated into a wedding are endless.

Since they are the first thing your guests see, invitations are a great place to start! Using contrasting bright citrus colors, such as pink and yellow, is exciting and bright and will set the tone and theme of the wedding day. From the moment they are received in the mail, guests will feel the joy and happiness of the special day.  Sam, the talent behind The Lettering Grove, hand drew custom illustrations of the venue on the invitation.

Another one of the best ways to add warm citrus themes is through decor. Neutral table settings can be brightened with a colorful napkin and table runner. Pastel taper candles with crystal holders are a great way to, while still adding color, balance out any of the brighter elements that they share the table with. Carrying the color through the smallest details, like the place cards are a great touch! For Abbey and Camden, citrus was brought to the table with lemon-shaped place cards.

When mixed with some subtle colors, yellow, orange, green or pink flowers will be the perfect pop of color. Filling your bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and decor pieces with bright yellow roses and vibrant pink peonies will help achieve an elegant and fun look. If you want to take a literal approach to your color scheme, throw some actual lemons into your centerpieces. Adding sliced lemons to the table set up is also a great option— not to mention the lovely fresh scent of lemons that will fill the air!

If bold and bright is what you want, the cake is a great place to do it! The cake is meant to be an eye-catching centerpiece at the reception, so why not let it stand out? Going with a canary yellow definitely makes the cake the center of attention, and decorating it with contrasting flowers and actual citrus slices brings the color scheme to life.

Don’t be afraid to wear the look either! Having touches of peachy oranges or yellow in the bride’s jewelry can be the perfect touch to tie everything together. For a lively bride, a bright pair of shoes might be a good fit. A bright pink lip and a peachy blush for makeup is the cherry on top of a citrus bridal look. For the groom and his party, maybe try bright yellow or green ties and matching pocket squares. These colors will look great with a lighter color grey or tan suit.
